I never promote anything that I haven’t tried. I have been on the Keto Diet for that past nine weeks. I went on it because I was always hungry and had no energy. I don’t like restrictive diets because in the past I had an eating disorder, but I thought I would try it. I really like it but have made some modifications to fit my lifestyle.
It goes along with intermittent fasting. I skip breakfast and fast 12 hours. I love this. I have a concoction around 11 a.m. of:
1 Tbsp. Of Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs Organic) + 1 Tbsp. Of MCT oil + 16 oz. of water. I add ½ avocado to my lunch which is always 4 oz. of lean protein and vegetables. I snack on lightly salted dry roasted almonds and weight watchers string cheese. Drink 1 liter of water. Dinner same as lunch. I feel great. Lost a little weight and my body fat composition has decreased. Cravings gone! Energy up. My mind is clearer. I love the recipes on Pinterest.
The tough part was giving up fruit except for berries and popcorn which I love love. But adding healthy unsaturated fat three times a day is really working for me. I had the Keto Flu on the sixth day which was awful. I felt like I had the flu all day until 7:00 pm when my body converted to ketosis converting from glycogen to fat for energy.
I don’t track my macros. The 70% fat, 30% carbs, 30% protein. I don’t check my urine for ketones. I am in ketosis twice a week because my energy is amazing on those days. The only supplements I take are B complex vitamins and magnesium citrate along with Vitamin D and probiotics.
I am adding juicing back in for breakfast right now as I feel that intermittent fasting is hard on a daily basis. Juicing is in my soul. I will probably juice a few times a week and fast a few times a week. I am going to add in popcorn on the weekends along with grains here and there.
I am recommending Keto to all my clients with a caution on dairy as it can cause inflammation in the gut and slow down weight loss as well as bacon which should be nitrate free. Studies have shown that nitrates in bacon and deli meats are linked to cancer. Other than that I am giving Keto the Green Light!
