Phentermine was approved by the FDA in 1959 as a short term treatment for obesity and has dominated the market ever since.

Combining Phentermine with anti-depressants is used with caution Is Phentermine an amphetamine?

No. It is similar in chemical structure.

What are the risks associated with Phentermine?

PPH. Primary Pulmonary Hypertension is a rare and frequently fatal disease of the lungs that occurred in patients who received Phen Phen which was the combination of Phentermine with fenfluramine. Phen Phen was taken off the market in September 1997. The possibility of an association between PPH and Phentermine use alone cannot be ruled out.

What is the dosage of Phentermine?

37.5 mg. tablet. It is recommended that the lowest effective dose should be used. For some clients that is a half tablet for others a full tablet.


When should I take Phentermine?

Either before breakfast or 1-2 hours after. Before 10 am.

What is the duration of therapy for Phentermine? 12 weeks of use. It is used “off label” much longer. The addictive potential increases with length of therapy. This medication was designed to be used in conjunction with diet and exercise.

Who should not take Phentermine?

Anyone with a history of: Coronary Artery Disease Stroke Arrhythmias CHF Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure Hyperthyroidism Glaucoma Agitation Addiction Disorder Clients who are pregnant and or nursing.
